The Income Tax Department has identified several reasons that can result in the failure of linking PAN with Aadhaar

Many people are worried about running into problems with the obligatory PAN (Permanent Account Number) and Aadhaar connectivity process as the deadline draws closer. The Income Tax Department acknowledged the potential for demographic discrepancies during the PAN-Aadhaar connecting procedure in a tweet they sent out on Saturday. On June 30, 2023, the window for connecting PAN with Aadhaar will close.

Demographic mismatch may occur while integrating PAN with Aadhaar for the reasons listed below:

Name, Birthdate, and Gender

In case of any demographic mismatch, biometric-based authentication has been made available and is available at designated centres of PAN Service Providers (Protean & UTIITSL) to further support the seamless connection of PAN & Aadhaar.

PAN holders, please pay attention!

When there are differences in the personal information provided on both cards, there is a demographic mismatch during the PAN-Aadhaar connecting process. These inconsistencies can take the shape of misspellings of names, inconsistencies in the date of birth, or modifications to the gender information.

You won’t be able to link the two cards if your PAN-Aadhaar has a demographic discrepancy. Correcting the inconsistency in either your PAN card or Aadhaar card is required in order to move forward with the linking. By submitting an online or offline request for a correction, you can update the information on your PAN card. Similarly, you can go to a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre to fix the inconsistency in your Aadhaar card.
