According to sources acquainted with the matter, Ethan Slater’s wife, Lilly Jay, was “completely blindsided” by Ariana Grande’s relationship with her married “Wicked” co-star.
“It is awful. They were best friends in high school. They are parents now! She’s a mess, a source exclusively tells Page Six. As a couple, Slater and Jay celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary in November of last year.
During the past year, Slater and Grande have been filming “Wicked” in London, and people think that’s why Slater and Jay “suddenly break up now when nothing appeared wrong between them,” the source said.
For Mother’s Day in May, Slater, 31, even raved on Instagram about his “wonderful” wife.
“Happy first Mother’s Day to the most loving, caring, and wonderful mom/person in the world,” he wrote.
Since then, Slater’s social media account has been set to private.
The “Wicked” set was visited by Jay, 32, and his infant, according to production insiders. Grande, 30, is also said to have spent time with the couple.
Earlier this week, we reported that despite their two-year separation in January, Grande and her real estate agent spouse Dalton Gomez are still “incredibly amicable.” Together, they reached a decision. Before January, they were having issues, but an insider informed us that they still wanted to be best friends.
Slater and Grande haven’t officially acknowledged their new relationship, and their reps haven’t answered any of our questions.
